This woman ...Evelyn Gustafson .... my mom Gundi Bushs' best friend.
They were prayer warriors.
They met every Wednesday for prayer group that often included just themselves... a party of two.
They prayed for our country , our leaders, the military, their families, their brothers and sisters in Christ and any names that were passed along their hearts....
Sister Evelyn was exceptional, excepting of all, tolerant and real...
She greeted you with the most amazing smile, laugh and loving embrace.... She never bragged although had many reasons to. She was a hard worker, a volunteer to those without shoes, clothing or food and a beautiful witness of Christs love for us all.
She welcomed all into her home and heart which was a glorious place to dwell and be a guest.
She made the best Waldorf chicken salad known to man.
My mom , Gundi Bush took Gracie ....my daughter to prayer group weekly..as a baby until recently.
Sister Gus greeted Gracie with an American flag each time....teaching her at a small age the privledge it is to be an American citizen and to vote.
She loved my Gracie like her own.
She taught my mom to be a prayer warrior and they worshiped so deeply and with devoted loyalty.
They are women to look up to ...
And so I mention this today because she was a precious diamond in the rough. I saw and felt a glimmer of the pain I will feel when God takes my mom home.
Women like sister Gus and my mom are rare....
They are the fabric of our country and the thread that holds our families and communities together.
And my heart mourns her loss here on earth but am imagining the rejoice and celebration taking place in heaven.
I'll never be the same after knowing her.
